Which is the better option – BBA or BCA?

A detailing of the respective courses was necessary to know the content being taught as well as the career path options open to both the different courses. At the end of the day, it is a career choice centered on what the person’s choice is and what career line he or she would like to go for. Those who have a natural inclination towards programming there is no two ways about what course of selecting – apparently, it is the BCA. At the same time those who consider coding and development as a monotonous desk job and look for challenges and managerial profiles in their careers – then it is the BBA.

  • It is not uncommon to see high scoring maths and science 10 + 2 students opt for a career in BBA and look for soft skilled based roles in organizations. While of course the IT industry is highly lucrative and pays fat salaries for entrants and those who move up the ladder and many BCA ‘s ends up going to the US, UK, Germany, Japan, there are some inherent advantages that a BBA pass out would hold as compared to the BCA counterpart.
  • The BCA is restricted to the IT development industry exclusively. They cannot look at anything outside of the same. This is not the case with a BBA graduate. Their career options are open across a broad spectrum of Industries.
  • While initial entry and growth in the IT segment are very impressive, this need not be the case as people move higher up the ladder. Only a minuscule section is able to reach as project heads. Others remain confined as coders and developers. For BBA’s there are many roles in which they can nourish their talents like Operations, Corporate Communications, and Marketing, etc.
  • In a highly competitive world, soft skills define how fast a person moves up a job ladder. There are many technically strong programmers finding it challenging to move up due to lack of communication skills. On the other hand, BBA is all about sharpening soft skills from day one.
