Exams and Entrance Tests:
An examination or Test is an assessment in order to measure the ability, knowledge, skill, aptitude, etc. of an individual. A test may be conducted verbally, on paper, on a computer, or in a confined area where test takers are tested on the base of physical and mental abilities. Test or examination varies in style, rigor, and requirements. For example, in a closed book test, a test taker is supposed to give the test on their knowledge and memory skills, whereas in open book test the test taker can use one or more supplementary tools such as reference book or calculator etc.
A test may be developed and administered by an instructor, a clinician, a governing body, or a test provider. The types of exams or tests are written tests that are administered on paper or on the computer. Oral tests or oral exams is a practice in many schools and disciplines in which examiner poses questions to the student in spoken form. Physical fitness exam or test is a test designed to measure physical strength, agility, and endurance. Performance test is an assessment that requires an examinee to actually perform a task or activity, rather than simply answering questions referring to specific parts
A test may be formal or informal. An example of informal test would be a reading test administrated by a parent to child. An example of a formal examination is an examination conducted by a university or a teacher in a classroom or an IQ test conducted by a phycologist in a clinic.From our childhood, we have been traveling through many exams, who invented exams? Ancient China was the first country to implement a nationwide standardized test named as imperial examination. The main purpose was to select eligible candidates for specific government jobs or governmental positions. The examination was established by the Sui dynasty in 605 AD and abolished by Quing Dynasty 1300 years later in 1905. In 1806 England adopted this method for selection of candidates for positions in Her Majestyâ€™s Civil Service. It is known that Henry Fischel was the first person who invented the exams. Standardised testing began to influence the examinations in British universities from the 1850s, where oral examination had been the norm since the middle ages.
